Dealing with Disappointment

Risk is an inevitable part of mountain bike racing.

We take risks every time a leg is thrown over the saddle and the cranks are turned forward. Crashes. Flat tires. Bonking. Mechanicals. All are accepted medium of cycling risk. One could even argue that without these, the sport wouldn't be quite as interesting. But it is the risks we unknowingly take that often burn the most when they knock us off our feet.

But when millions of these little guys are reproducing asexually in your lower intestintal tract, it puts a serious damper on your riding plans.

What really rubs salt in the wound is knowing that you're trained, tapered and highly motivated to race your heart out.

Oh well. Shit happens, i guess (literally *ahem* in this case).

More fuel for the fire, right?

Did you seriously get giardia?

Have you actually been tested?

The ol' tainted drop splashed on the water bottle theory seems a bit thin.

Sucky man. Well at least you'll be rested and fast by the time you come back.
