Night Time Fun
With the available daylight hours decreasing faster than my chances of landing a date (and in preparation for my upcoming 24 hour race this weekend) i dusted off the 'ol lights and took to the local singletrack with Jesse and Hector.
I had almost forgotten about the therapeutic qualities of ripping... ok, maybe not ripping... your favorite backyard trails when you can only see 10' in front of you.
Never once did i worry about a rogue driver running a stopsign and careening straight towards me (more on that later), nor did i have to deal with irate Sierra Club Gestapo confusing me for the over-padded and under-talented "freeriders" (yea right...) that give mountain bikers a bad rep.
All in the nick of time, i might add. I was able to squeak in a few night sessions to dial in my nocturnal cycling gear just before the Angeles National Forest officially closed today because of the widespread fires (probably Trogdor the Burninator again)
Chance it, you say? Illegally poach your fave ride despite the forest services request? Sure, only if you're willing to fork out the $10,000 fine and possible imprisonment.
