The Muck: Part 1

And thus begins 'cross season...

An exciting new way to punish myself with exercise induced oxygen debt and lactate burn.

Saturday kicked off with the team relay. It's like this - 4 members of each team run successive 'hot laps' around the course, passing off a Clif Shot 'baton' in the transition. The prize: a CASE of New Belgium beer.

With stakes like this, team Beerclaw - errr - Bearclaw had to bring an 'A' game.

JL kicked 'er off, followed by yours truly, then Chad, and finally J-Lo brought it home. We managed to squeak by ahead of the other teams to score the booty, whilst f
rothing at the lips for cold post-race refreshments. (Lyle stood in for me on the podium)

Next it was on to the Elite 1/2/3 race.

Fritz, Lyle, and Jason gave 'er for 60 hellish minutes in a field stacked with nearly 40 guys - including the likes of masters national champ Mark Noble, USGP bad-ass Brent Prenzlow, and US 'cross worlds team member Chance Noble. All 3 of our elites finished in the money, picking up 6th, 12th, and 8th respectively. Not too bad for the 2nd race of the season.

Stay tuned for 'The Muck' Part 2...

Oh gosh, I'm sure this is going to be good. Seriously, you should consider getting into journalism

Is part II going to mention how Mc Keen got dropped by Wings ElDorado, who did most of the race while riding a wheelie?

I know Wings... taught him everything he knows.
